Pu'er has now become a popular destination for hobbyists.

hobbyist 是名词,“业余爱好者”,由 hobby(爱好)加 -ist(人)构成,英文解释是 a person who does an activity for pleasure, not as a job。

它可以单独用,也可以作前置定语:a hobbyist photographer(业余摄影师)、a hobbyist gardener(业余园艺爱好者)。

Hobbyist videographers now shoot documentaries on their phones.

Cosplay hobbyists queued for photos at the creator conference.

Tourists come to the unhurried city to reset before returning to work, says Wang Yan, a 27-year-old local burned out from her solar-industry job.

主干是 Tourists come to the unhurried city to reset,to reset 是目的状语;

before returning to work 是时间状语;

says Wang Yan 是引述部分后置——注意这是英文新闻里常见的倒装式引述,正常语序是 Wang Yan says…;

a 27-year-old local burned out from her solar-industry job 是 Wang Yan 的同位语,其中 burned out from…

Time in nature can reset a tired mind.

搭配有 be burned out from sth、burn out at work。

写作中,形容“疲惫、累”时,用be burned out 比 very tired 重得多。

She was burned out from caring for three children and holding down a full-time job.

Dealing with constant emotional manipulation leaves people burned out.

When the fire burned out, I thought I'd find her blackened bones.

3

She opened one of the many handicrafts workshops around town.

4

Adults deprived of play by an intense education system can finally cut loose.

这句是整段的题眼,主干是 Adults can finally cut loose;

deprived of play by an intense education system

deprive of 是重点短语,动词 deprive 是“剥夺”,固定搭配是 deprive sb of sth,被动式 be deprived of sth 意为“被剥夺了某物”。

名词形式是 deprivation(剥夺、匮乏)。英文解释是 to take something important away from someone。

Laboratory animals deprived of stimulation show clear signs of stress.

The team was deprived of a medal by one poor quarter.

deprive of 一词,可以用 strip sb of、deny sb sth、rob sb of sth 等说法替换,看几个例句:

For half an hour, the scoreboard stripped him of a clean win.

She was denied a winning start in her first match of the tournament.

The Korean swimmer was robbed of gold by four hundredths of a second.

搭配有 cut loose at a party、cut loose on the dance floor。

After the exams, the students cut loose at the school party.

She cut loose on a live stage with no backing track to hide behind.

On stage, the whole team let loose and won the audience over.

For many, a small treat is how they unwind at the end of a hard day.

People need somewhere to blow off steam, and that demand does not disappear.

I think he was just looking for a way to cut loose.

"It's all about making it up to your younger self," she says, as patrons hammer flower prints onto bags and tie-dye clothing.

making it up to your younger self 是“补偿小时候的自己”,make it up to sb 意为“补偿、弥补某人”。

搭配有 tie-dye a T-shirt、tie-dye clothing。

At the workshop, visitors tie-dye a scarf and take it home.

Meanwhile, a foraging guide identifies mushrooms resembling trumpets and brooms for city folk.

identify 是“辨认、鉴定”;

resembling trumpets and brooms

foraging 来自动词 forage,“(人或动物)觅食、搜寻食物”,英文解释是 to search for food in the wild。

Foraging for wild herbs has become a weekend hobby in some cities.

The woman was filmed foraging for lingzhi spores with a small brush.

And send out a foraging party immediately. Siege begins at sunrise.

The robot's movements resemble those of a human arm.

"I feel like I'm still alive," says 26-year-old Wang Keyi as she scans the forest floor.

搭配有 scan the crowd(扫视人群)、scan the horizon(望向地平线)、scan a document(扫描文件);名词形式 a scan 还常指医学扫描,比如 a CT scan。

She scanned the comments for criticism before replying.
